Privacy Policy

Actuali ("the app") is a native iOS client for Actual Budget, a local-first personal finance tool. This policy explains what information the app handles and where it goes.

Short version: the app collects no personal data for the developer. Your financial data stays on your device and on the Actual Budget server you configure. Nothing is sent anywhere else.

Data stored on your device

The app stores the following on the device so it can work offline:

  • Your budget data (accounts, transactions, payees, categories, and monthly budgets), held in a local SQLite database.
  • Your server URL, selected budget ID, and preferences, held in the system defaults store.
  • Your authentication token for the server you configure, held in the iOS Keychain.

This data never leaves your device except to synchronise with the Actual Budget server you specify.

Data sent over the network

The app communicates only with the Actual Budget server URL you enter in Settings. What it sends is whatever your Actual server requires: your login credentials, encrypted or plain sync messages, and budget file downloads. No other network destinations are contacted by the app.

The developer of the app does not operate a server, does not see your traffic, and does not receive your data. If your server is self-hosted, your data stays entirely between you and your server.

Analytics, tracking, and ads

The app contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs. It does not fingerprint your device or share identifiers with anyone.

Apple services

If you install the app via the App Store or TestFlight, Apple collects standard diagnostic information (crash logs, device model, OS version) subject to Apple's own privacy policy and your iOS privacy settings. The developer may view these aggregate reports through App Store Connect to fix bugs. This is Apple's system, not a third-party SDK.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
